First Flight!

First Flight: Zenith CH 750 Cruzer
Last week, after grilling brats and hotdogs for “First Friday Lunch” at the Zenith Aircraft kit factory in Mexico, Missouri, demo pilot Roger Dubbert headed to northwest Indiana in his personal STOL CH 701 aircraft to perform the first flight of David Mason’s recently completed Zenith CH 750 Cruzer aircraft. Check out the video as Roger flies his “low and slow” STOL CH 701 cross-country and prepares for the first flight.

David Mason built his Zenith CH 750 Cruzer from a Zenith kit, and equipped the airplane with a 100-hp Continental O-200 engine. Watch the first flight video to find out what is different about Dave’s Cruzer. “I thank the Zenith team for the quality product and support all throughout the build process: you all are in the business of making people’s dreams come true!”

The First Flight Video premieres tonight on YouTube at 9:30 pm Eastern, 8:30 pm Central and 6:30 pm Pacific. Watch the Premiere and join in the live discussion!

The Zenith CH 750 Cruzer is the on-airport version of the very popular “off airport” STOL CH 750 light sport kit aircraft, and is ideally suited for recreational cross-country flying. The CH 750 Cruzer kit was the aircraft model chosen for the “Return of the One Week Wonder” project at EAA AirVenture 2014, where an entire aircraft was completely assembled in just seven days, with the participation of 2,500 people!

The high-wing all-metal CH 750 Cruzer kit was chosen for the project due to its high level of pre-fabrication and the extensive use of final hole size match-drilled parts, making it quicker and easier to build, requiring fewer skills and tools.

If you missed last week’s SocialFlight Live broadcast, watch the recorded version as SocialFlight’s Jeff Simon chats with Zenith Aircraft’s Sebastien Heintz about all things Zenith. The popular episode was dedicated to designer Chris Heintz.

Saturday, June 19: “Fly In to Summer” Open House at Zenith

Plan now to join us for our informal “Fly In to Summer” Open House and Fly-In at the Zenith Aircraft Factory on Saturday, June 19, as we welcome in summer 2021!

This is a grass-roots fly-in and open house at the kit manufacturing factory at Mexico Memorial Airport in central Missouri. This is a great opportunity to check out the planes and tour the Zenith aircraft kit factory. Check out the photos from last year’s event, and plan now to join us at the factory on Saturday morning!

Following the Saturday morning Open House event on June 19, a group of pilots is heading to the Lake of the Ozarks with their airplanes for a “Fly-Out to the Lake” gathering and primitive camping trip hosted by our friends at UL Power. Check out the video as Dennis Sapp, a local Sport Pilot who has been flying his Zenith STOL light-sport utility aircraft (that he built himself from a Zenith kit) for the past 12 years, flies to the Lake of the Ozarks to the remote grass strip for the overnight camping tripCheck out the video from the 2020 Fly-Out.

Attending Zenith Aircraft’s famous hands-on workshop at the kit aircraft factory is the easiest way to get started on your very own airplane! Plan now to join us at an upcoming workshop at the Zenith Aircraft factory:

Zenith Aircraft Company’s factory workshops are popular with sport aviation enthusiasts, giving them the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in building their own Zenith Aircraft kit plane. Participants get to actually start assembling kit parts under the direction and guidance of factory professionals, and “graduate” from the workshop upon completing construction of their own aircraft rudder tail section.

The in-person factory workshop makes an excellent getaway for you and your spouse or a friend! Spend a couple of days at the Zenith Aircraft factory and meet with fellow aviation enthusiasts – all while gaining valuable hands-on building skills. A demo flight is part of the factory workshop experience in a Zenith factory demo airplane!
