 Boeing Awarded US Army Contract for 191 CH-47F Chinook Helicopters

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 26, 2008 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] has been awarded a five-year U.S. Army contract valued at $4.3 billion for 181 CH-47F Chinooks and 10 additional Chinooks under Fiscal Year 2008 supplemental funding. There are options in the award for an additional 24 aircraft over the course of the contract.

YORK, Pennsylvania – BAE Systems has received a $43.5 million order from the U.S. Marine Corps for 40 RG33 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles: 36 Special Operations Command (SOCOM) variants, two RG33 MRAP Category II 6x6s, and two Category II Heavy Armored Ground Ambulances (HAGA). The maximum contract value could total $60 million once contract negotiations are complete.

ORLANDO, FL, August 26th, 2008 -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will produce a Close Combat Tactical Trainer (CCTT) Reconfigurable Vehicle Simulator and the Reconfigurable Vehicle Tactical Trainer (RVTT/CCTT-RVS) for the U.S. Army, providing Soldiers with the latest skills to defeat adaptive and intelligent adversaries. The initial one-year contract valued at $37 million has three options which, if exercised, could bring the total contract value to $147 million.

August 26, 2008 Engineers are discussing possible solutions after technicians encountered difficulty attaching the liquid hydrogen umbilical line from the external fuel tank to space shuttle Atlantis. A guide pin became stuck as workers were turning a bolt to connect the main liquid hydrogen line from the tank to the shuttle.
